چکیده

Fibromuscular dysplasia is a non-inflammatory and non-atherosclerotic arteriopathy commonly affecting medium-size renal, carotid, and vertebral arteries. Involvement of the coronary artery is very rare but may cause life-threatening spontaneous dissection. Because it is rare, this disease may go unrecognized. A unique angiographic finding of non-coronary arteries can make an early diagnosis, and prompt treatment is paramount. In this paper, we report on a multiple vessel coronary artery dissection in a female patient who presented with acute stroke symptoms secondary to spontaneous dissection of the left vertebral artery. To date, this is the first case report of the spontaneous dissection of six branches of coronary arteries and the vertebral artery due to fibromuscular

Postpartum Sudden Cardiac Death After Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection in a Patient With Fibromuscular Dysplasia

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a rare entity that can cause acute myocardial infarction and sudden cardiac death (SCD) which often goes unrecognized. We report a case of SCAD in a young postpartum female who presented with sudden cardiac arrest. The patient was managed medically and found to have fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD). After being stabilized in the critical care unit, ...

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection in patients with fibromuscular dysplasia: a case series.

Young women with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) frequently have nonatherosclerotic coronary artery disease (NACAD) and may be misdiagnosed. Coronary fibromuscular dysplasia (CFMD) commonly is overlooked, as the angiographic appearance is often subtle. Our group previously described CFMD as a diffuse obliterative disease starting abruptly at the mid-distal vessel, involving long segments.1 Sponta...

Acute aortic dissection and stroke in multivessel fibromuscular dysplasia.

Fibromuscular dysplasia is a rare, nonatherosclerotic, noninflammatory vascular disease that typically affects women between the ages of 20 and 60 years. Fibromuscular dysplasia of the renal arteries usually presents with hypertension, while carotid or vertebral artery disease caus...

Fibromuscular Dysplasia Leading to Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection with Sudden Cardiac Arrest

A 30-year-old previously healthy female, who was six-week postpartum, experienced sudden collapse and tonic-clonic seizure. Emergency medicine services arrived at the scene and the patient was found to be in ventricular fibrillation. Advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) was initiated with return of spontaneous circulation. Afterwards, her initial EKG showed atrial fibrillation with rapid...

A Rare Presentation of Fibromuscular Dysplasia: Postpartum Vascular Catastrophe and Brief Literature Review

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection is a very rare cause of acute coronary syndromes and can be life threatening given the rarity of the condition. It should be part of differentials in young females presenting with acute coronary syndromes without routine risk factors for coronary artery disease, especially before, during, and after pregnancy. It is closely associated with fibromuscular dys...
